vStor DPX Appliance
Our NetApp customers asked Zerowait to provide an affordable and reliable backup solution for their NetApp infrastructures. Our friends at Catalogic had the software and with our SimplStor hardware we joined together to offer cost-effective vStor DPX appliances. These tightly integrated SimplStor/DPX software solutions enable you to quickly deploy a new DPX infrastructure or add secondary storage to your existing DPX enterprise.
The appliances run the Catalogic vStor backup operating system based on the highly scalable open-source ZFS file system. vStor offers platform-native snapshots that are integrated with DPX block-level backups for instant data and system recovery.
In addition, vStor provides data reduction via both data deduplication and compression. Replication is included, allowing you to easily send backup images off-site to another appliance. Tape export is available via the on-board SAS port, or users can add an optional fibre channel card to the appliance.
Backup management is provided by Catalogic DPX, an industry-standard backup platform with a wide range of coverage for applications and operating systems. DPX features both agent-based and agentless backups. For full details on DPX functionality, visit the DPX product page.
Appliances are built on our high-performance SimplStor platform. There are three default sizes, and any appliance can be customized with additional disk shelves. For operational speed, high performance SSDs are provided for operating system and logs. Storage is provided by high-capacity SATA drives.
SimplStor vStor appliances can be purchased along with DPX software, or as standalone hardware for existing DPX environments. Appliances are built on our 2U, 12-bay chassis with redundant hot-swap power supplies, hot plug fans, and hot swap drive bays. 36- and 60-bay chassis are available for custom configurations.
